The Late Mandarin of Ciaculli

The Late Mandarin Of Ciaculli
The mandarin is the only sweet fruit of the citrus family. This particular type, Ciaculli, owes its name to the cultivation area in which it was discovered: Ciaculli, a district of Palermo. It is named late because its maturation occurs later than the other varieties.
Its origins being absolutely natural, the strong scent, the sugar content, the thin skin, the presence of the seed, make the Tardivo di Ciaculli a unique and unmistakable mandarin. Its segments are small and juicy. Moreover, the pulp contains few seeds and has a light orange colour. Its skin, thin and easy to remove, is light orange in colour and very fragrant.
Our mandarins are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.

The Moro Orange

The Moro Orange
The Moro orange is so called because of the rather dark colour of the pulp. It is rich in flavonoids and anthocyanins, a typical pigment that occurs with the falling of snow on Etna. These antioxidant substances, useful in the prevention of some diseases, are the causeof the red colour. The peel is orange with more intense shades on one side.
This variety has a more intense taste than the others and is smaller than the Tarocco variety. It is ideal for freshly squeezed juices, given its very low level of acidity.
Our Moro oranges are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.

The Navelina Orange

The Navelina Orange
The Navelina orange is an early variety of Orange, since it is generally harvested starting from the end of November and is part of the larger Navel group.
Navel, the translation of the Italian “ombelico”, refers to the presence of a navel, due to a phenomenon of syncarps, that is the formation of a second fruit within the main fruit, a twin fruit.
The skin, orange-yellow, with a tendency to reddish at the end of winter, is thick and hard. The pulp is uniformly yellow in colour, with a fine and firm texture, apyrene (without seeds), appreciated for its low acidity which enhances juice sweetness, typically yellow and therefore suitable for younger children.
Our Navelina oranges are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.

The Tarocco orange is a red-fleshed orange, more or less intense, depending on the period of maturation. Among the main characteristics of Tarocco oranges we find the peel colour, typically yellow-orange, with a large number of streaks and red shades that occupy more than half of its surface. Thanks to its low acidity level, it is among the most appreciated oranges in Italy and abroad.
It distinguishes itself because of a number of qualities, including its distinctive scent and aesthetic beauty. The skin is thin and smooth, yellow-orange in colour. The shape is obovate, the pulp is seedless and has an excellent juice yield.
Our Tarocco oranges are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.

The Gallo Tarocco Orange

The Gallo Tarocco Orange
The Gallo Tarocco orange is one of the most refined and appreciated varieties among all Tarocco oranges. Introduced in Italy in the 17th century, after being imported from China by a Jesuit monk, today it is one of the most cultivated in the Catania Plain. It is characterized by its high juiciness, strawberry-like aroma, low acidity level, and seedless pulp.
The skin is thin and smooth, of medium or thin thickness, orange-yellow in colour and reddened over more than half of the surface. Its pigmentation varies depending on the degree of ripeness of the fruit, but it is generally a deep red.
Our Gallo Tarocco oranges are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.

The Ippolito Tarocco Orange

The Ippolito Tarocco Orange
The Ippolito Tarocco orange was obtained by micro-grafting and thermotherapy at the University of Catania in 1998. It belongs to the Tarocco family and is characterized by a high concentration of anthocyanins both in the skin and in the pulp, resulting in a very intense red colour. The fruit, very juicy, is seedless and has a good round shape with a medium-thin, orange-colored, often pigmented skin.
The Ippolito Tarocco orange juice is excellent thanks to a good balance between sugars and acids. The blossoming period is spring with single white and very fragrant flowers. The plant is quite tolerant to cold. In a sheltered environment it holds up well to -8°C, -10° C.
Our Ippolito Tarocco oranges are not treated with packaging chemicals, such as wax or anti-rot.
